The Fantasy Theme Criticism To comprehend this paper’s contention on how it is the Jordan Brand endeavors to utilize dream topics in their promotion, we should initially comprehend what precisely the Fantasy Theme Criticism is. It was made by Ernest G. Bormann, and was intended to give bits of knowledge into the mutual perspective of a gathering of rhetors. It is gotten from the Symbolic Convergence Theory, and can be applied to various sorts of talk including the kind(s) utilized on little gatherings, social developments, political battles, and hierarchical correspondence. The analysis depends on two suspicions. One, that talk makes reality, and two, that assembly happens. With respect to talk making reality we are to expect that the representative structures that are made from the talk are not impersonations but rather organs of the real world. This is on the grounds that it is through their organization that anything turns out to be genuine. We expect to that union happens on the grounds that images make reality for people as well as that individual’s implications can consolidate to make a common reality for members. The common reality at that point gives a premise to the network of members to examine their basic encounters and to accomplish a shared comprehension. The outcome of this is the people build up similar mentalities and feelings to the personae of the show. Inside this analysis the crowd is viewed as the most basic part in light of the fact that the sharing of the message is viewed as being so huge. The fundamental unit of this examination is taking a gander at the distinctive dream topics inside the talk being investigated. Dream topics recount to a story thatâ accounts for the gatherings experience and that is the truth of the members. The three dream topics that are important to make a show are setting, characters, and activities. These dream topics at that point meet up to frame a dream type, and expository vision. A dream type is a stock explanatory vision that shows up more than once in the talk of a gathering. The genuine explanatory vision is the brought together assembling of the different shared dreams, or a whirling together of imagination subjects to give a sound translation of the real world. In the occasion there is a logical vision, it is recommended that an explanatory network frames that comprises of members in the vision, or individuals who have shared the dream subjects. All together for the advertisement to bode well it must share a First there is the setting theme(s). Setting subjects portray where it is the move is making place. In this advertisement, there are a wide range of athletic scenes delineated in which the physical setting happens for competitors to get amazing. For instance, there is a ball court (P3, P8, P15, P20, P21), a boxing ring (P12-13), a baseball field (P5-6), and football field (P11, P17-18). These distinctive physical spots are the place competitors go to prepare and perform to get unbelievable. We here the storyteller state different motivational lines relating to ones execution, for example, â€Å"It’s about work before glory† (L10-11) and that it is tied in with â€Å"Taking all that you have been given, and making something better† (L8-9). This recommends to the crowd that training and difficult work in whatever sport you decide to contend in, are required in the event that you wish to get amazing. The following significant setting topic of the advertisement is inside the crowd is itself. In the absolute first scene (P1) all we see at first is the shoes with a unidentified individual sitting in them. The screen at that point looks up to uncover a man who it is sitting in a seat somewhere down in thought. This is potentially intended to be emblematic that every single individual in the crowd is that competitor in those shoes. At that point in the last scene we see a dark screen with the words Become Legendary. These two slides structure the setting that every individual from the crowd should confront, the second in their brain at which they either rule for, or against endeavoring to get amazing. Notwithstanding this the advertisement references â€Å"you† the crowd an aggregate of multiple times. This backings that the promotion is attempting to convey to its crowd any place it is, and since this advertisement is endeavoring to source of inspiration its crowd the setting is inside the crowds minds themselves when they are settling on their choice. Next there is the characters theme(s). Character topics are any individual or item indicated taking part in human like activity. As recently expressed, the promotion references â€Å"you† an aggregate of multiple times and clarifies that the crowd is the most significant character in this advertisement. Through the symbolism and words, the crowd should either envision themselves as the competitors delineated, or as themselves in comparable settings on the athletic field. This comprehensive procedure of utilizing the language and topics of the promotion to identify with the crowd assists with building union The competitors who are appeared in the advertisement are additionally significant characters. It isn't unequivocally expressed in the advertisement who these competitors are, yet by viewing the promotion and review the last scene where the words Become Legendary (P22) show up, the crowd can deduce that whoever these competitors are, they are legends in their separate games. They are portrayed all through the promotion performing different demonstrations of athletic capacity, and through the narrator’s words the crowd should envision themselves performing comparable goes about as these competitors. At long last, there is the activities theme(s). Activity subjects manage the activity of the dramatization. Inside this promotion there are various activity subjects. By taking a gander at the visuals of the promotion we see competitors running all over a b-ball court (P3, P20), hitting balls (P5-6), shooting a b-ball (P8), getting touchdowns (P11, P18), and hitting a punching pack (P13). Going with these visuals we here the narrator’s words and can comprehend the characteristics these competitors have, and how their activities (which become straightforward through the advertisements visual and sound showcase) have lead them to get incredible. For instance, we here the storyteller state for the baseball scene (P4-6) that â€Å"It’s about having the boldness to fail† (L4-5). The crowd should comprehend that having fortitude/acting gutsy is imperative to have in the event that one wishes to get unbelievable. Another model is in slides P12-15 in which we go from the visual of a youthful fighter working out, to the picture of ball player in festivity and here the words â€Å"It’s about work, before glory† (L10-11). This scene delineates that the activity of buckling down prompts the demonstration of festivity in triumph. This scene additionally fits that the demonstration of buckling down is critical to getting amazing. These subjects structure a dream type which is that it isn't about the shoes. We here this definite line expressed in P1L1 that â€Å"It isn't about the shoes†. All through the promotion we at that point see different video clasps and pictures that show us, just as hear our storyteller delineate for us, what it is about. We at that point hear in L14 that by and by â€Å"It’s not about the shoes† and afterward in L15-16 that â€Å"It’s about what you do in them, it’s about being what your identity was destined to be†. This dream type gives the goals to the first clash achieved in the main scene. The dream topics talked about over totally meet up to ideally lead the crowd to the explanatory vision to get unbelievable, which is the thing that the rhetor would have liked to impart. Through the dream subjects the crowd can perceive how they can get unbelievable

Critique Of Thinking Fast And Slow - 955 Words

Critique of Thinking Fast and Slow After reading summaries, reviews, and excerpts from the 27 books we were given a list of to choose from, I decided to go with Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman. This book set itself apart from many of the other books because it was not about the physical environment. Instead, it focused on the psychological environment that is created by the way humans think. In addition to its uniqueness compared to the other books on the list, my research uncovered that it was by far the most popular and highly rated book from the lists. It received thousands of rave reviews and appeared on the New York Times bestseller list. Finally, I read the introduction of the book online and was captivated by the examples Kahneman used to illustrate his ideas. Not only did they greatly help in understanding in his complex thoughts, but they also were quite interesting. With this, the book immediately found its way into my Amazon shopping cart and accompanied me on my vacation to Florida. This book focused on the theory that the human mind has two â€Å"characters†, which Kaheman classifies as â€Å"System 1† and â€Å"System 2†. System 1 thinks fast, automatically, instinctively, and involuntarily. This is exemplified by things people do daily, such as interpreting facial expressions, driving somewhere familiar, or reading a clock. System 2 requires more thought, slower, concentration, and voluntary deliberate action. Examples of System 2 are difficult math problems,Show MoreRelatedThe At The Jacobs School Of Music Recital Hall989 Words   |  4 PagesFor my critique #2, I went to a recital that was performed at 5pm on October 30th, 2016 at the Jacobs School of Music Recital Hall. Rajasaurus, the Deadly Indian Dinosaur

Also known as theropods, meat-eating dinosaurs—including raptors, tyrannosaurs, carnosaurs, and too many other -saurs to list here—had a wide distribution during the later Mesozoic Era, from about 100 to 65 million years ago. An otherwise unremarkable predator, except for its small head crest, Rajasaurus lived in what is now modern-day India, not a very fruitful location for fossil discoveries. It has taken over 20 years to reconstruct this dinosaur from its scattered remains, discovered in Gujarat in the early 1980s. (Dinosaur fossils are relatively rare in India, which helps explain why the regal word Raja, meaning prince, was bestowed on this carnivore. Oddly enough, the most common Indian fossils are ancestral whales dating from the Eocene epoch, millions of years after the dinosaurs went extinct!) Why did Rajasaurus possess a head crest, a rare feature in carnivores that weighed in the one-ton-and-over range? The most likely explanation is that this was a sexually selected characteristic, since colorfully crested Rajasaurus males (or females) were more attractive to the opposite sex during mating season—thus helping to propagate this trait through succeeding generations. Its also worth noting that Carnotaurus, a close contemporary of Rajasaurus from South America, is the only identified meat-eating dinosaur with horns; perhaps there was something in the evolutionary air back then that selected for this characteristic. It may also be the case that the crest of Rajasaurus flushed pink (or some other color) as a means of signaling other pack members. Now that weve established that Rajasaurus was a meat-eater, what, exactly, did this dinosaur eat? Given the paucity of Indian dinosaur fossils, we can only speculate, but a good candidate would be titanosaurs—the gigantic, four-legged, small-brained dinosaurs that had a global distribution during the later Mesozoic Era. Clearly, a dinosaur the size of Rajasaurus couldnt hope to take down a full-grown titanosaur all by itself, but its possible that this theropod hunted in packs, or that it picked off newly hatched, elderly, or injured individuals. Like other dinosaurs of its kind, Rajasaurus probably preyed opportunistically on smaller ornithopods and even on its fellow theropods; for all we know, it may even have been an occasional cannibal. Rajasaurus has been classified as a type of large theropod known as an abelisaur, and was thus closely related to the eponymous member of this genus, the South American Abelisaurus. It was also close kin to the  comically short-armed Carnotaurus mentioned above and the supposed cannibal dinosaur Majungasaurus from Madagascar. The family resemblance can be explained by the fact that India and South America (as well as Africa and Madagascar) were joined together in the giant continent Gondwana during the early Cretaceous period, when the last common ancestor of these dinosaurs lived. Name: Rajasaurus (Hindi/Greek for prince lizard); pronounced RAH-jah-SORE-us Habitat: Woodlands of India Historical Period: Late Cretaceous (70-65 million years ago) Size and Weight: About 30 feet long and one ton Diet: Meat Distinguishing Characteristics: Moderate size; bipedal posture; distinctive crest on head

Computer Security Essays - Security, Cybercrime, Cryptography

Computer Security About two hundred years before, the word "computer" started to appear in the dictionary. Some people even didn't know what is a computer. However, most of the people today not just knowing what is a computer, but understand how to use a computer. Therefore, computer become more and more popular and important to our society. We can use computer everywhere and they are very useful and helpful to our life. The speed and accuracy of computer made people felt confident and reliable. Therefore, many important information or data are saved in the computer. Such as your diary, the financial situation of a oil company or some secret intelligence of the military department. A lot of important information can be found in the memory of computer. So, people may ask a question: Can we make sure that the information in the computer is safe and nobody can steal it from the memory of the computer? Physical hazard is one of the causes of destroying the data in the computer. For example, send a flood of coffee toward a personal computer. The hard disk of the computer could be endangered by the flood of coffee. Besides, human caretaker of computer system can cause as much as harm as any physical hazard. For example, a cashier in a bank can transfer some money from one of his customer's account to his own account. Nonetheless, the most dangerous thief are not those who work with computer every day, but youthful amateurs who experiment at night --- the hackers. The term "hacker "may have originated at M.I.T. as students' jargon for classmates who labored nights in the computer lab. In the beginning, hackers are not so dangerous at all. They just stole computer time from the university. However, in the early 1980s, hackers became a group of criminals who steal information from other peoples' computer. For preventing the hackers and other criminals, people need to set up a good security system to protect the data in the computer. The most important thing is that we cannot allow those hackers and criminals entering our computers. It means that we need to design a lock to lock up all our data or using identification to verify the identity of someone seeking access to our computers. The most common method to lock up the data is using a password system. Passwords are a multi-user computer system's usual first line of defense against hackers. We can use a combination of alphabetic and number characters to form our own password. The longer the password, the more possibilities a hacker's password-guessing program must work through. However it is difficult to remember a very long passwords. So people will try to write the password down and it may immediately make it a security risk. Furthermore, a high speed password-guessing program can find out a password easily. Therefore, it is not enough for a computer that just have a password system to protect its data and memory. Besides password system, a computer company may consider about the security of its information centre. In the past, people used locks and keys to limit access to secure areas. However, keys can be stolen or copied easily. Therefore, card-key are designed to prevent the situation above. Three types of card-keys are commonly used by banks, computer centers and government departments. Each of this card-keys can employ an identifying number or password that is encoded in the card itself, and all are produced by techniques beyond the reach of the average computer criminals. One of the three card-key is called watermark magnetic. It was inspired by the watermarks on paper currency. The card's magnetic strip have a 12-digit number code and it cannot be copied. It can store about two thousand bits in the magnetic strip. The other two cards have the capability of storing thousands of times of data in the magnetic strip. They are optical memory cards (OMCs) and Smart cards. Both of them are always used in the security system of computers. However, it is not enough for just using password system and card-keys to protect the memory in the computer. A computer system also need to have a restricting program to verify the

Cheer essays

Cheer essays Most movies about lesbians and gays show some kind of confusion in their characters, whether it be they themselves or their straight friends and/or family. +But Im A Cheerleader was a corny comedy. *The main characters were confused and unsure about their sexuality; the plot was directly to the point; the humor was corny. I think that the homosexual characters were confused because their family and friends had sent them to a place called True Directions. This is suppose to be like a rehab for alcoholics but instead for homosexuals. True Directions main goal is to convert their nasty homo tendencies into normal heterosexual lives. Right off the bat they are forced to admit that they are homosexuals whether or not they believe they truly are gay. Megan, one of the so-called raging bull dikes is unsure of her sexuality and feelings. Marry, the director of True Directions says Its a long path to righteousness Megan, and its a battlefield of temptation out there and until then you will have to fight. This caused confusion for Megan because she was not yet ready to believe she was a dyke. I mean after all she was a cheerleader. 2 I believe that the plot was straight to the point. All throughout the movie, the True Direction counselors teach/say that homosexuality is wrong. Megan has been told by her parents that if she chooses the gay lifestyle, they cannot condone it, nor will they allow her to remain in their household. There are two counselors for true directions one for the boys and girls. The counselors make them do training activities to help them become heterosexual. Mike, an out-of-drag Rupaul Charles, says If I catch you looking at another man like that, ...

Amadeus Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Amadeus - Essay Example e classical composer Mozart, director Milos Forman took the 1979 libretto of the musical play by Schaffer and turned it into a modern classic of high admiration among high brow film aficionados. The music of the film, being based on the original works of Mozart leaves the viewers glued to their seats at the film unfolds in relation to the chosen musical pieces. It was this music that gripped my interest when I first sat down to watch the film for our class. I cannot fault the film for its musical brilliance and its painstaking attention to the small details that went into the production of this movie. However, there were a few things about the production itself that struck me as odd. Simply because I found it hard to swallow a crossover of influences between the historical world of Mozart and the modern era of the 1980s. To begin with, I never expected to hear modern English slang being spoken in a film such as Amadeus. I had thought that the original play creator and then the Hollywood film maker would have done their best to stay true to the language of the era being portrayed. A necessary point, in my opinion, that adds to the authentic feel of the movie experience. The gyrating laughter of Tom Hulce also got on my nerves later on. I understand from the narration that the reason the laughter sounded that way was because it was meant to offend Salieri who felt that God mocked his talents by bestowing an immense talent in the spoiled brat name Mozart. This is also another point that left me wishing that the film makers had taken greater care in their portrayal of Mozart in the film. The heavily fictionalized account of the life and times of Mozart has become the basis by which most of todays students first get to know about the prolific composer. However, because the film does not present an accurate account of his life and the people of notable influence upon him, Mozart is instead seen as a madman who was always in need of money and uncaring for both his

Buyer behaviour and market research Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Buyer behaviour and market research - Assignment Example Consumer buying behavior is determined by what the consumers buy, how they do it, the time they purchase and why they purchase it (John & Jagdish, 1969). The study brings together psychology, sociology, and economics in order to understand the consumer decision making process as an individual or as a group of people (John & Jagdish, 1969). The theory also explains characteristics such as demographics, and behavioral variables of every buyer. It also tries to find out the influences the consumer might get from the family members, society, and peer groups when they want to buy. Buyers are not aware of many products and their usage in the market but they keep on choosing from different products. In many occasion, consumers buy new products without having knowledge on the product. When new products are introduced into the market, it is hard for the consumers to understand about the product and it is always hard for the consumers to access the information. If a new product is introduced, the consumers will respond depending on the product reliability and quality. In UK and US, Taste and preferences, culture, psychology of the consumers, social, personality and mode of communication is different. In US, internet has become the main source of marketing; many consumers go to social websites such as Face book and yahoo to find new products and compare the prices with similar products. The cream manufacturer should adopt the UK mode of marketing that is normally done through TV and radio, display, and poster advertisement. This will reach many people very fast unlike the social website which is not trusted b y many people. More advertisement and product promotion should be directed towards women since over 70% of household purchasing is influenced by women unlike in US where the household purchases are influenced by every family

The Kent County Councils football Essay Example for Free

The Kent County Councils football Essay This project will be researching many different areas of football. I will begin at the grassroots level, which is primary school, local and junior leagues progressing through county, club and country. The areas included will be funding, incentive schemes, provision for different abilities etc. The local provision of football around my area with the help from my own experiences locally will be compared to the National set-up. Though they are two separate topics they will link together. Review of Literature  In my local area there is large mounts of youth leagues ranging from under 8s competitions upward, the grassroots football. The Kent messenger (KM) newspaper shows the variety of league and cup competition. Youth football in my area ranges from Maidstone Minor Leagues to the Kent League, North, Central and South. The KM and another resource, The Downswood Mail always have advertisements for players to join clubs, or managers that are needed for youth football. The Football Association (FA) consists of the professional and amateur game, with different branches off of it, for example, Kent Football Association. The FA gives you details about coaching schemes and initiatives available to young footballers hoping to progress in the game. The FA also gives details of semi-pro clubs like my club Lordswood who play in the Kent League up to the main, elite premiership clubs. These clubs are local and National clubs to me. Football is getting bigger all the time; a lot of money is pumped through this sport, one example is the à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½45 million pounds the FA is giving to grassroots facilities. Though a lot of this money is given and accumulated by the top clubs. Coaching courses are available around my area, such as Andy Fords Soccer School, also larger clubs issue advertisements for when they bring coaches to your area, e.g. Manchester United Coaching Course came to Maidstone, my area, three to four years ago. The Kent County Councils football section shows details of coaching courses available in Kent. SportsAid allocates awards usually between 250 and 500 to young sportspeople aged from approximately 12 -18 years (junior competitors) who have competed with distinction within their respective age group and achieved. This helps to promote sporting excellence and it gives them a better chance of succeeding. Locally there is the Sports and Play Team, which helps in many ways the progress of football in Maidstone. The Sports and Play team will be setting up Football in the Community with local professional and amateur football clubs in order to create more opportunities for young people to engage in positive activity after school and to develop the clubs. The Sports and Play Team are one of the partners in the Active Sports programme and are keen to work with local clubs. Voluntary Club Facility Hire Grant helps to provide the facilities needed to run training sessions and to have a good quality pitch for match days, ranging form hundreds to thousands of pounds and this scheme was also set up by the Sports and Play team. Gillingham Football Club, local pro team, runs many after school and holiday training camps with opportunities for the younger players to help their schools out. The players can win competitions for equipment and small grants for sport in their school.  Discussion  Football as a whole is a growing enterprise in England and around the world. TV money and worldwide football stars show a lot of money is in and around the sport. Local football around my area uses a lot of recreational ground and schools playing fields, so facilities for players are limited. More money needs to be spent on proper catering specifically for football. à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½45 million pounds from the FA is going to be invested in pitches and facilities over the next three years from the National Game Scheme. This does help, but it is not enough for national improvement in this sport. Local amateur football gives a good impression of football nationally; this means that more input in the sport is needed. More progress is being made with issues inside football than with actual provisions for the sport. Schemes such as Fair Play, Eliminating Racism From Football and Child Protection Best Practice do not help with local and national provision. These issues should be addressed but equally with factors like facilities and pitches. Maidstone runs a Youth Sport Action Group developing football with the help of coaches, teachers and members of the community. They organise Youth Sport Achievement Awards and the Sports Fair. Conclusion The FA seems to be the main contributor to grassroots all the way up to the national game. More money is needed for County Councils, such as my local county, Kent. I suggest that schemes to improve facilities for amateur clubs are needed to help bridge the gap between amateur and professional clubs because the breach is currently massive. Money will improve players capabilities because of the enhanced equipment, providing the top clubs with better quality players and the players with a better chance of reaching the top clubs. The more money the FA gives to councils and the Government, the more football will prosper and generate money. If local and national grassroots football improves, more money will be generated by itself, which then takes off all the pressure from the Government and the FA in the future. Appraisal There are lots of ways in which the study could be improved. Without a comprehensive study of another Borough or County its hard to tell if my local area equates in a similar way to another. Many figures that I have found only say what money is going to be put in; it would help to find where the money has been spent so far. Many coaching schemes and building enterprises are organised but the popularity and success is not always shown. My area really only has one professional club, Gillingham, regions in and around London for example will have many clubs reasonably close. This means my area is disadvantaged but I would like to find out whether these major clubs to make a big difference to local and national provision.

Health and Happiness :: Happiness Essays

Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  During the fall semester of 2004 I participated in a program to improve my habits of healthy living. I set goals for myself in four different areas, Exercise, Nutrition, Sleep, Social or Family Time, Play/Laugh/Create and, Spiritual development. During the three months of September, October and November I experienced some challenges and some successes.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  In the area of exercise my beginning goal was to play soccer every day and try and lift weights at the gym. This started out really easy because I had soccer everyday and lifted weights on a consistent basis. After the season was over I have found that it has become more difficult to be discipline about running and lifting weights due to trying to improve my grades from the lack of effort during soccer season.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The next area I would like to talk about is the nutrition area. I have found this category to be one of the most consistent areas to keep going. It is not very hard to eat something healthy with every meal. But, I have found now that I have more time on my hands it is easier to eat more junk food than I would like to because I just eat what ever looks good to me at the time. I do not think about what I am eating like I did at the beginning of the semester.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Third is the Sleeping category which was the easiest for me to keep up with. I am one of those people that if I do not get enough sleep the night before it is hard for me to function that next day. So, I have tried to get a minimum of seven hours of sleep every night. It does not seem like a hard task but when you are in school, playing a sport and having a relationship with a girl it is hard to get seven hours of sleep every night. I figured out how to keep on a consistent basis.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The social/family time was a good one to have. It helped me talk to my parents on a more consistent basis. By talking to them it made me feel like we had a good trustworthy relationship with them. There were also times when I found myself not talking to them because I was to bust with either school soccer or my girlfriend. But, for the most part I felt this was beneficial for my relationship with my parents.

Fair-value accounting change Essay

The role played by the financial market in determining the levels of performance that can be recorded by the economy is not in doubt.   The 2008 economic crisis is a vivid reminder to all policy makers and even governments to ensure that issues that affect the economy are objectively addressed. The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) which is a key player in the financial sector appears to be oblivious of its role in the economy and has once again used its mandate to develop a standard that is not relevant to business let alone accounting.   The move to adopt the mark-to-market accounting standard is a dark mark in American accounting history that may in fact lead to poor practices within the financial systems that have proven to be potent to the economy. It took America nearly 15 years to develop its constitutions; strategic management specialist have time and again pointed to the close relationship that exists between rapid change and failure and the FASB has for years taken months in seeking suggestions and deliberating upon them before making any proclamation that may affect the nature of the business environment[1].     All these are events or standards that the business world and America as a whole has come to accepted as being reflective of factors that affect the business environment. The speed with which the mark-market standards moved from proposal to being a standard brings about questions on objectivity[2].   A look at the last two times that America has found itself in crisis it has been the financial systems that duped to investors by inflating their performance or potential.   It is unlikely that such a hurried process which eliminates systems that have protected American investors will be of any good. FASB’s modification of its rules is often waited upon with anticipation by all players in the business world.   The change in the fair value rules or standards is the main area of controversy in FASB’s changes.   While the banking and financial institutions have praised the move as an effort to reduce the negative effect that previous standards had on developing a ‘clear picture’ of their performance[3], investors are worried stiff on the effect that it will have on disclosures by banking and financial institutions that are traditionally known for overvaluing their assets and even performance. The fair value accounting rules had been blamed by a number of financial institutions that are notably under pressure from the 2008 economic crisis for being irrelevant to inactive markets. The mark-to-market accounting system that has been presented by FASB allows companies to use their judgment to gauge prices of some investments and backed securities.   Analysts were quick to note that the measures could in fact impact on the net income and affect bank write downs.   Pro mark-to-market standard institutions have hailed the changes with statements like ‘the mortgage and market was not working and something had to change’.   This is reflective of the true objective behind the move.   Investors who have been defrauded by American institutions in a number of occasions are wary of the changes that place them in a position where they are susceptible to exploitation by the financial community. The integrity of a development is largely dependent on the process that culminated in its existence.   Under this consideration, investors are innocent of ‘unnecessary suspicion developed from poor past experiences’.   The series of event that culminated into the existence of the mark-to-market standard is a reflection of the negative effect that the congress can have on effective decision making.   In his presentation on March 12th the chair of FASB did not mince his words in pointing out the faults that are inherent of the mark-to-market standards that the financial community was pushing for. The definition presented by Herz which should be presumed of FASB’s definition of fair value is that it is the worth of an asset being exchanged between two informed parties[4].   In ending his statement the chair stated that America is in a challenging time that requires improvements in nearly all sectors and by trying to suppress financial information offered to investors there is little that will have been done to change the conditions.   His statement is a pointer to the misinformed objective that the change may affect the position that America currently is in and the existence of fair value system within financial practices. Whatever happened between 12th March and April 2nd is best left to Americans’ imagination.   The congress’ pressure has especially been cited by the media and being central to the changes that FASB made in fair accounting standards.   The same rule which had been dimmed lacking in objectivity became relevant to the American dilemma in a space of three weeks.   The hurried implementation of the change is the unspoken variables that belie its objectives. A pro derived from the development is the awareness that America is in a desperate position which needs to be addressed with immediate effect.   Moreover, the negative effect that bad performance within financial institutions had on the stock market may soon be historical events as financial agencies have been given a leeway to confuse investors and hide poor performance.   Profits that have not been evidenced since the likes of Enron went down may soon be usual and the same can be said of the pain that investors underwent in the turn of the century. The cons are clear especially sidelining of the effects that the operational environment has on operations.   The development allows for businesses to operate in a manner suggestive of independence from the operational environment while investors who may be aware of the prevailing environment are subjected to these daydreams.   The results may be increased wrangles within management boards, unethical practices within financial institutions and reduced confidence on financial disclosures which goes against their objectives. If any one thought that the FASB is perturbed by the controversies surrounding the development then they are in for a big surprise.   The FASB has practically done nothing and has sat back with some postulating that the next step they take may involve providing organizations with an environment where they can alter the value of all their assets at will. The standards used by investors and   financial players under the environment developed by the mark-to-market standards is non-uniform and may lead to a number of upheavals and even miscommunication that negatively affect value generation. It is evident from Herz’s speech on March 12th that the mark-to-market standard is a non-objective measure to curb the effects of the 2008 crisis.   The pressure placed on the FASB by the congress whose affiliation to financial heavyweight is not a mystery is central to the change.   This is not the first time such a development is being recorded for the French President played a pivotal role in some controversial changes made by the GAAP[5]. Investors should only worry for the short term for such subjective developments have historically proven to be uneventful.   It is only a matter of time before the follies in the mark-to-market standard that are actually known to all parties in the business fraternity manifests in the practical environment with dire results.   Changes that are appreciative of the operational environment will then be the only way out.

Analysis Of The Movie Dorotea And The Sight Of Her

Unlike Marcela who secluded herself in an effort to escape to her desired reality, Dorotea is tied to her family. Dorotea comes from a family of wealthy farmers who had her as their only heir. Her family protected her from the outside dangers of men by dressing her modestly and only allowing her to go outside at odd hours of the day, but even with these precautions, Don Fernando still managed to become â€Å"smitten with love† at the sight of her (Cervantes 231). Dorotea is described by Edith Cameron as â€Å"beautiful, modest, chaste, devout, well-educated, and capable† when Don Quixote first encounters her, but Dorotea’s history with Don Fernando reveals much about her role as a woman (139). As Don Fernando pursues Dorotea, her parents inform her that â€Å"their honor and reputation had been placed for safekeeping in [her] virtue and chastity† (Cervantes 232). It is the woman’s duty to follow the rules society has laid out for them, as opposed to how men are able to do as they wish with little to no judgement. Unfortunately, Dorotea is fooled by Don Fernando and is subsequently stripped of her virtue. He tricks her into fulfilling his desire by proclaiming to her â€Å"here and now I offer you my hand to be your husband, and let heaven, which sees all things, and the image of Our Lady that you have here, bear witness to this truth† (Cervantes 233). This is enough for Dorotea to accept his proposal, and do what he asks of her. With the loss of her virtue at the hand of Don Fernando, it can be
